GENERAL INFORMATION

ON THE RECOGNITION OF DIPLOMAS OF HEALTH PROFESSIONALS

IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC

If you want to study or work in the Czech Republic in a field you have studied, you may be required to have your education from outside the Czech Republic nostrified. In practice, this means that your education is compared with the Czech version and you are then awarded a certificate that allows you to apply for universities and professional jobs just like Czech citizens. There is a list of so-called regulated professions in the Czech Republic. In order to exercise these professional professions, in addition to the recognition of foreign education, you must meet special conditions set by law. A list of regulated professions, including requirements for recognition of qualifications obtained in a country other than the Czech Republic, can be found here.

The legal aspects of recognition of professional qualifications for health professions are described in detail here.

CONFIRMATION OF QUALIFICATIONS ACHIEVED

The first step is to find an appropriate public university in the Czech Republic that offers an accredited study programme similar in content to the one you studied abroad. For example, you can use this list from the Ministry of Education as a basic guide. But we are also happy to help you with our social counselling service.

You will also need an officially certified copy of your university diploma and diploma supplement, which can be made by a notary public or Czech Point staff at the Czech Post. You can find a map of Czech Point contact points here.

If you have a diploma in a language other than Czech, English or Slovak, you must have your diploma translated into Czech by a court interpreter.

You must then fill in an application form, which each university has published on its website.

You must pay a fee of CZK 3,000 to the relevant university for the whole process.

In case another person will be providing the nostrification for you, you will have to issue a certified power of attorney.

If you studied in a country that has a legal aid treaty with the Czech Republic, you won't need anything else.
